ah... the whimsy of minecraft...
watching an old VOD series of About Oliver playing minecraft for the first time without a wiki and any knowledge of the game. it's bringing me a sense of joy i want to put into words, so here we go!
there's the obvious joy present from someone discovering a game you enjoy- that's not what i'm talking about, although that's definitely present! it's more so that absolute wonder and awe that is struck in him when he sees something new in the game.
for example, his first house, a wooden square with a door, was something he said he was really proud of. he got excited beyond belief at the idea of building his house inside a cave wall. each new block or mechanic he comes across brings a new sense of joy for him and it's truly the essence of gaming to me.
it's kind of... helping me find similar whimsy in something i'm used to. something that i've desensitized myself to, in a way. really makes me happy to see someone enjoying this game in such a fresh and lovely way ;u;
